8-BIT SINGLE-CHIP MICROCONTROLLERS
The µPD780982, 780983, 780984, 780986, 780988, 780982(A), 780983(A), 780984(A), 780986(A), and
780988(A) are members of the µPD780988 Subseries of the 78K/0 Series. These microcontrollers are suitable for
general-purpose inverter control.
The µPD780988 Subseries provides expanded internal ROM and RAM capacities as well as inverter control,
timers, and serial interfaces.
The µPD780982(A), 780983(A), 780984(A), 780986(A), and 780988(A) are applied a stricter quality assurance
program than the µPD780982, 780983, 780984, 780986, and 780988 (standard grade) (NEC classifies these
products as special grade in its quality grade classification).
A flash memory version, the µPD78F0988, which can operate within the same power supply voltage range as the
mask ROM version, and various development tools are also available.
Detailed function descriptions are provided in the following user’s manuals. Be sure to read them before
designing.
