µPD78F4046
16-BIT SINGLE-CHIP MICROCONTROLLER
DESCRIPTION
The µPD78F4046 is a product of the µPD784046 Subseries in the 78K/IV Series.
The µPD78F4046 has flash memory in place of the internal ROM of the µPD784046. The incorporation of flash
memory allows a program to be written or erased while mounted on the target board.
Detailed function descriptions are provided in the following user’s manuals. Be sure to read them before
designing.

FEATURES
• 78K/IV Series
• Pin compatible with µPD784044, 784046 (except VPP pin)
• Flash memory: 64 KB
• Internal RAM: 2048 bytes
• Operable with the same supply voltage as that of the mask ROM version: VDD = 4.5 to 5.5 V
APPLICATIONS
• Water heaters, vending machines, etc.
• FA fields such as robots, automated machine tools, etc.

1. DIFFERENCES AMONG µPD784046 SUBSERIES
The only difference between the µPD784044 and µPD784046 is the internal memory capacity.
The µPD78F4046 is a version of the µPD784046 with the internal ROM replaced by flash memory.
The differences are shown in Table 1-1.
